If you’ve been thinking about getting braces, one of the first questions you may have is about which type to get. There are some good choices available these days. Below we go over the four main types of braces so you can get some important information about what may best suit your needs.

Metal Braces Laguna Hills

This is the traditional option that has been around for years. These tried-and-true braces have been used on all types of teeth misalignment. Metal brackets are attached to the teeth and linked together by a wire that aligns the teeth by applying just the right amount of pressure.

Ceramic Braces Irvine

Ceramic braces are made of a clear ceramic material instead of metal. However, they work very similar to metal braces. They have become popular because they’re not as noticeable as metal. They cost a bit more than metal.

Lingual Braces Mission Viejo

This can be an expensive option because it places the brackets behind your teeth so they’re invisible. This system basically works the same as the others, but it will be hard for people to notice that you’re wearing braces.

Invisalign Clear Aligners Lake Forest

This one works differently than the others. Instead of using brackets and wires, a simple see-through aligner tray is used. It works much like a mouth guard and is the most comfortable treatment option. Though they are a very aesthetically-pleasing type of dental brace, they will not work for certain people.

Your orthodontist will examine you thoroughly, then speak to you about what type of braces you’d like. After getting information about the costs of each, you can make your final decision about which treatment option is right for you.
